Dress Rehearsal

Dress/Tech Rehearsals are an essential part of preparing for recital. They allow us to see how costumes work on stage, make any necessary adjustments, and help dancers get comfortable performing in a large theatre setting.

Even more importantly, it gives the stars of our show a chance to get up and rehearse on the big stage—a very different environment than they are used to within the studio walls. Dancers can overcome jitters when the bright lights come on and really prepare themselves for the show ahead. It is a fun and rewarding experience and a great chance to play with their friends and watch inspiring dancers as they wait for their turn in the spotlight.

Date & Location

Dress Rehearsal will take place on Saturday, May 30 at Eagle Eye Theatre.
Students should arrive by 10:15 AM with hair, makeup, and costume ready.

Regular preschool classes will not run on this day, as all preschool dancers will be attending the dress rehearsal.

Check-In & Supervision

Students will go straight into the theater to be checked in by a parent at the entrance. Dancers will be supervised in the theater audience or designated holding area by parent volunteers. Students may stay for the full rehearsal or be picked up after their scheduled rehearsal time. Students cannot leave the venue without being signed out by a parent or guardian.

  • Parents are asked to drop off and pick up their dancers rather than stay in the holding area.

  • Only Dance Directions staff and registered parent volunteers are permitted to supervise at the theater.

  • Volunteers will assist with quick changes, monitor students, and ensure a safe, respectful environment.

Breaks During Rehearsal

  • Dancers are permitted to leave and return only if they have more than a 45-minute break between the finale rehearsal end time and their class rehearsal start time.

  • If the break is less than 45 minutes, dancers are to stay at the venue.

  • If leaving during a break, please return at least 20 minutes before your dancer’s scheduled rehearsal time.

  • We do our best to stay on schedule, but times may vary as we ensure all dancers feel comfortable and ready.

What to Bring

All students should have a clearly labeled bag with:

  • Hair supplies (hairspray, gel, hair ties, bobby pins)

  • Dance shoes, tights, socks, and recital underwear/undergarments

  • Costume(s) in the labeled garment bag and safety pins

  • Healthy snacks and plenty of labeled water (no nut products or juice that can stain costumes)

Mobile phones and valuables should stay with parents; the studio and venue are not responsible for lost or damaged items.

Volunteers

Parents who plan to volunteer for the recital may also be asked to assist at Dress Rehearsal to understand their roles and help support dancers backstage or in the audience holding area.

Finale

  • All dancers participate in the finale.

  • Please bring all costume pieces, shoes, and accessories to ensure full participation.

  • Teachers will guide dancers during the finale rehearsal to ensure spacing, timing, and transitions are smooth.
